2016 Legislation - Helping Idaho Families

H 477a    EDUCATION
To encourage Idaho's high school students to attend post-secondary schools in Idaho, enter a post-secondary field of study and take rigorous courses while in high school. The bill requires a matching postsecondary scholarship. 

S 1297a    ELECTIONS
Authorizes the Secretary of State to develop and implement an on-line voter registration application. In order to register on-line, a person would be required to have an Idaho driver's license or ID card. A digital copy of the signature from the State driver's license would be provided by the Department of Transportation and become a part of the voter registration data-base.


H 378    FISH AND GAME
Provides the Fish and Game Commission the authority to prescribe and administer a trapping education program, adding to the existing authorization for hunter education and archery education programs.


H 341    PATIENT FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT
Updates the Patient Freedom of Information Act, also referred to as IDACARE.  The bill also requires health related regulatory boards to make certain information about licensees available on their website. It will also ensure the public has access to certain information


H 481    RIGHT TO TRY ACT
Implements the Right to Try Act regarding investigational drugs, biological products and devices for patients with terminal illnesses.


S 1253    CHILD PROTECTION
Delegates limited authority to foster parents to provide enrollment consent for foster child activities which schools and others may require, and for which foster parents may be reluctant to give without liability protection. The legislation does not change the status or rights of a biological parent or guardian, or the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare in their role as the legal custodian or guardian of a child.


S 1326    SUICIDE PREVENTION
To clarify that Health and Welfare's Mission includes services for the prevention of suicide.

H 385    MOTOR VEHICLES
To allow surviving spouses of American armed forces  veterans to continue to display a veteran’s license plate.
